Duy Beni
First Turkish drama on the list is Duy Beni (Hear Me), which is about bullying in schools. The story features three children, Ekim, Arshe, and Berker, from a poor neighborhood, who get admission to an elite school, Gerçek High School, and face problems there. Ekim falls in love with Kanat, the school bully, who transforms into a better person after meeting her.
The story also features the problems of domestic violence in a couple where the son, Aziz takes the beating from his father to save his mother.
In the end, the story ends on a happy note. The series is being aired on Prime Video.
Fatmagul
It is a Turkish drama of a village girl, Fatmagul, who is gang raped and her life as a aftermath of this incident. The tragedy strikes her when the rich Selim Yasaran and his family come to her village to get engaged. The innocent Kerem has to take the blame for the incident, who is friends with Selim and his cousin brother, Erdogan, two of the three culprits. Fatmagul is married to Kerem as a result of this incident. Although Fatmagul hates Kerem because she thinks he is one of the culprits, but comes to know he is innocent.
Kerem helps her get justice against the accused. The serial has also been aired in India during 2016-2017. After the incident, Fatmagul’s fiancé Mustafa ends his relationship with her. She is devastated because of this breakup and has to leave the village with her and Kerem’s family. The serial portrays the strength of Fatmagul’s spirit and how she comes stronger out of this adversity. All the culprits are punished by law. Fatmagul returns to her village with her brother’s family and Kerem.
Ask 101
This Netflix Turkish drama revolves around 5 friends Sinan, Eda, Isik, Kerem, and Osman, who are in a school. They have no interest in studies except for Isik due to their personal issues. They decide to hook up one teacher, Burcu, with another teacher, Kemal, so that they can be saved from being terminated. Burcu is the vice principal of the school and is against the principal’s Necdet policies. She is about to get transferred from school due to her impending marriage, but the students aspire to stop her transfer with this love affair. The serial had a successful run at Netflix. It had a second season, too.
