Jolly LLB 3 has been released. So can Bollywood expect to score a hit with this comedy? It has both the stars of the initial Jolly LLB series movies, Arshad Warsi and Akshay Kumar. So, fans can expect a real dose of comedy with this Bollywood offering.
However, the story of Jolly LLB 3 does seem to be a run-of-the-mill affair, with an industrialist fighting for a piece of land against a poor lady who appears to own it. This concept has been shown a zillion times before in Bollywood, with rich and poor claiming the same land. But this time, Akshay Kumar will not fight for the poor, but will support the rich in their fight. His character, Jolly Mishra, wants a job with the rich industrialist Khaitan(Gajraj Rao ) as a lawyer, and hence supports him in his fight against justice. This role is quite different from the middle-class guy roles played by Gajraj Rao so far. The actor is best remembered for his performance as the middle-aged husband who impregnates his wife, Neena Gupta, in the comedy movie, Badhaai Ho.
Jolly LLB 3 now rests on the comic jibes between Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi.
Adding to the comedy is the comic timing of the brilliant actor, Saurabh Shukla, who is reprising his role as Judge Tripathi. All the actors of the movie series are there, such as Huma Kureshi and Amrita Puri, who play the love interests of both the Jollys. The movie also has a brilliant actor like Seema Biswas, who plays the poor lady claiming the contested piece of land. She is supported in this fight by a bunch of farmers. The best part about this movie is that it’s a family entertainer, and the whole family can have a fun weekend by watching it. Who wins the ownership of the plot of land in the end is a suspense that can only unfold once the audience visits the theaters.
The courtroom dramas add an interesting subplot to these movies, and in this one, Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi create excellent courtroom scenes. This franchise also has a realistic touch because it is directed by a lawyer, Subhash Kapoor. As a lawyer, he is aware of all the real-life court drama. The movie seems to be a hit, with it already grossing 16 crores at the box office. Arshad Warsi is an extraordinary actor, and Akshay Kumar has also lifted the movie with his comic taunts at Arshad Warsi’s character, calling him Chhotu. Its weekend earnings remain to be seen. Whether word of mouth will help this movie enter the 100 crore club.
