Dhurandhar has proved that Indian cinema is not short of talent.
Although it is one of the Ranveer Singh movies, Akshaye Khanna has overshadowed him in Dhurandhar.
Akshaye Khanna is the most suave villain you could have ever seen. He, as Rehman Dakait, has the audience sympathising with him when Ranveer’s character Hamza, who is an undercover spy, betrays and kills him. Akshaye Khanna has excelled this time as a Pakistan mafia don, whether it is his body language, his aura and his dancing moves. The story is simple: an Indian spy, Hamza, who is on an undercover operation in Pakistan, kills his own mob boss, Rehman Dakait, who wants to be a politician. He plans this murder with the competitor politician Jameel Jamali, who is also his father-in-law. The movie has peaked in gore, but it is not unwatchable, although Rehman Dakait killing his father, Babu Dakait, with a weight is a little hard to watch. He smashes his father’s head with the weight.
Akshaye Khanna has taken the focus of the movie from Indian security carrying out undercover operations to find out about the terrorist attacks in advance by ISI on India to Pakistani politics. Ranveer Singh movies have him stealing the attention from all the other actors, whether it’s Padmavat, where he played a cruel and cynical king, Alauddin Khilji, but this time the show stealer is Akshaye Khanna. The rest of the villains are fine. Whether it’s ASP Choudhary Aslam (Sanjay Dutt) or ISI agent Major Iqbal (Arjun Rampal), all of them have done a good job. The story is the star of the movie. Like Animal, it has peaked in gore, but there is no nudity in this movie. Animal was all imagination, but Dhurandhar is reality. Pakistan’s ISI buys arms and hires young boys to carry out its terrorist attacks. It is a must-watch movie. Too late to say this, but this movie should have been the official entry of India to the Oscar awards. This movie is about the lives of undercover spies who face all the dangers to save their country from enemies. For those who have been fans of The Departed, a movie featuring Leonardo DiCaprio, Dhurandhar is an Indian version of it, intertwined with Pakistani politics. The entire plot is set in the Lyari district of Pakistan, which is governed by Rehman Dakait. However, when he wants to contest the elections, his political ally Jameel Jamali gets him killed. He reappoints the suspended cop, Aslam, to carry out the job, but Hamza saves his boss. Later, Hamza goes against Rehman because he has supplied arms to the ISI to carry out 26/11 the terrorist attacks in Mumbai. The movie has an extraordinary screenplay, and you can’t miss it. So, enjoy watching Dhurandhar.
