The Wuthering Heights, a classic novel by Emily Brontë, scheduled for release in 2026 as a movie, is about Heathcliff, an orphan adopted by the Earnshaw family. Heathcliff (Jacob Elordi) is quite loved by the Earnshaws living at Wuthering Heights, where Catherine Earnshaw (Margot Robbie) falls in love with him, but Hindley, her brother, treats him poorly. He just needs an excuse to beat him. When Hindley returns after pursuing his foreign graduation, he takes ownership of Wuthering Heights. He has married Francis, with whom he has a son, Hareton. After Heathcliff overhears Catherine telling Nelly,her housemaid, that she cannot marry Heathcliff because of his poor social status, although she loves him, Heathcliff runs away. Later, Catherine marries Edgar Linton, who is the neighbor of the Earnshaws, residing at Thrushcross Grange.

Heathcliff returns after three years, goes to Edgar’s house, and begins seducing Isabella, Edgar’s sister. He has a son with her, Linton. He also pursues Hindley to sell the house to settle his debts. Soon Hindley dies due to excessive drinking. Heathcliff learns that Catherine is pregnant and goes to meet her. She dies that very night after giving birth to Edgar’s daughter, Kathy.

Heathcliff becomes the owner of Wuthering Heights.

Kathy lives with her father at Thrushcross Grange, but Heathcliff invites her to Wuthering Heights to become friends with his son, Linton. Linton also dies after some time due to a fever. Kathy stays at Wuthering Heights and starts teaching Hareton. Soon, she reciprocates his feelings towards her. But Heathcliff is unable to forget Catherine. Although fans are criticizing the casting of Margot Robbie as Catherine opposite 28-year-old Jacob Elordi, this movie is also controversial because in the original novel, Heathcliff was shown as a colored guy, but in this movie, he is shown as a white person. Also, Margot Robbie is 34 years old, and Catherine died at the age of 20 after giving birth. The wedding dress of Margot Robbie shown in the trailer resembled a dress of the 1980s rather than the 1840s. Margot Robbie was shown wearing a crinoline in the movie, which was not invented till 1850.
